ICD-10 Challenges - How to prepare!

Lunch 'N Learn

Friday, August 27, 2010 at Athens Cafe
11:30AM - 1:00PM

Dwan Thomas-Flowers of the MAYO Clinic will present her best advice on what you should be doing now to prepare for the upcoming monumental changes in the way you code diagnosis for billing.

The new ICD-10 medical procedure and diagnostic coding system will certainly allow more accurate reporting for Medicare and other reimbursements.

However, the biggest challenge is that the number of codes will increase from 17,000 codes under ICD-9 to more than 140,000 codes under ICD-10-CM

Every healthcare provider should take steps now to prepare to avoid denials and preserve reimbursements!

You Will Learn:

  • How to identify ICD-10-CM codes.
  • Challenges & changes under ICD-10-CM.
  • About examples of increased details required for physician documentation.
  • Practical tips to assist you in the transition.
  • Where to access FREE online resources.
